Non-melanoma skin cancer - a signal about the risk of other cancers

People who are sick of non-melanoma skin cancer rose twice the risk of developing other cancers, according to U.S. scientists. Experts believe that. The highest risk for developing other types of cancer in young adults A previous study showed that patients with type of non-melanoma skin cancer at high risk for melanoma, which can be fatal, said Dr. Alberg. Scientists suspect that may non-melanoma skin cancer may be a risk factor for other cancers. Alberg and colleagues analyzed data from a 16-year study, which was attended by 769 people with non-melanoma skin cancer and 18,405 people with no history of skin cancer. Researchers compared the risk of other cancers in the two groups. They found that people with non-melanoma skin cancer is twice the risk of developing other types of cancer than those who did not suffer from non-melanoma skin cancer, Alberg said. These associations remained even after accounting for factors such as age, obesity, smoking, level of education, skin type and the amount of time spent in the sun. Sick people with skin cancer are aged 25 to 44 years the risk of other cancers was 2.6-fold. According to experts, the more likely there is a human non-melanoma skin cancer, the higher the risk for other cancers. The emergence of different types of cancer may be associated with genetic predisposition, said Dr. Alberg.
