Smokers suffer more often from chronic back pain

Smokers are more likely to suffer from chronic back pain, the researchers reported. Scientists from the Robert Koch Institute conducted a telephone survey of 8,000 people. The participants were a variety of questions, including those asked the public and demographic issues, as well as lifestyle and health. The data analysis experts have found a link between smoking and chronic low back pain. Researchers concluded that the decisive factor is the number of years a person smoked. Smokers and those who smoked before, much more likely to suffer from low back pain than those who did not smoke at all. Smokers with smoking history over 16 years, twice as likely to suffer from chronic lower back pain than those who smoked less than 10 years. Note, however, the authors suggest that smoking does not necessarily lead to chronic back pain. Maybe people to smoke with chronic back pain to ease the pain. The exact relationship between smoking and pain should be clarified in more detailed studies.
