The use of combination therapies, including drugs to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), and treatment of depression, improves the treatment results of both diseases, according to researchers. Scientists have the study, which was attended by 64 patients aged 50 to 80 years, depression and high blood pressure. All participants received treatment for both conditions for 6 weeks. In this case, a significant reduction of the symptoms of depressive symptoms and a reduction in blood pressure in comparison with the control group of patients treated with standard therapy. Results of the study showed that the efficacy of the simultaneous treatment of depression and hypertension is much better in comparison with the treatment of a disease. Experts believe that this combination therapy should be introduced into clinical practice in the world, because this comprehensive approach to improve the treatment outcome of patients with high blood pressure and depression.
