The degree of risk of lung cancer in smokers is the same for both sexes

Women, the risk of lung cancer is smoking the same as that of male smokers, although women who do not smoke, the risk of malignancy in the lung compared with Non smoking area men say scientists from the National Cancer Institute. It has long been known that smoking causes lung cancer, but until now, scientists have debated about the same or a different level of risk for men and women, according to study leader Neal Freedman. According to the results of other studies, women were more sensitive to carcinogens contained in cigarettes than men. Scientists have the study, which was attended by 279,214 men and 184,623 women aged 50 to 71 years, living in 15 different states in America, and about the same number of cigarettes smoked per day. The researchers found that 1.47% of males and 1.21% of the women had lung cancer. But under Non smoking area women with lung cancer 1.3 times more often men than meets Non smoking. For both men and women who smoked more than two packs of cigarettes a day, the risk for malignant lung disease was 50% more than non-smokers. The most effective way to prevent lung cancer is by far the cessation of smoking. This method of prevention applies to both men and women. The results of the study refutes the assumption that women are more susceptible to cancer of the lung. If a woman smokes as much as a human, then the likelihood of cancer is the same.
