Analgesics not reduce the risk of skin cancer

Previous studies have shown that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs help prevent melanoma, but a new study could not find confirmation of this, U.S. researchers reported. Dr. Maryam M. Asgari and colleagues examined data from 64 thousand people aged 50-76 years with no history of melanoma in the period 2000-2002. The participants reported pain medication for about 10 years, was also collected information on lifestyle, diet, risk factors of cancer and a family history of skin cancer. Monitoring the health status of the participants lasted until 2005. Experts found no association between the risk factors for melanoma and the assumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Also there is no connection between each dose of pain medication and the intensity distribution of melanoma. We need to continue looking for factors that can prevent melanoma, the scientists said.
