Hormone pills for menopause can lead to blood clots

Women using menopausal hormone replacement therapy are at increased risk of blood clots more than doubled, say French scientists. The highest risk of thrombosis occurs during the first year of treatment, scientists say. The results are published in the current issue of the British Medical Journal. Blood clots in the arteries are a common cause of heart attacks and strokes. If blood clots in the lungs, it is fatal. Previous studies have also linked the drugs (HRT) with the risk of blood clots, but French scientists have tried to assess how much risk actually increased. The analysis of the work showed that the risk of multiple take only those hormone pills, as in this case, estrogen through the digestive system and the liver is taken up, and is a blood coagulation factors is increased. The researchers added that more research is needed to confirm the results. Also, as we reported earlier, not after an international group of hormone therapy for menopause is a risk and the risk of side effects to a minimum.
