Canadian researchers on the basis of animal studies and laboratory tests have shown that Panax Ginseng the same area of the brain that drugs in the treatment of both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia affects target. Scientists have the effect of Panax ginseng in 42 patients, negative symptoms further investigated, despite continued drug therapy. Within 8 weeks of these patients 1 or 2 doses of ginseng or placebo were given. Then the patient is started on placebo, ginseng, and vice versa, before ginseng were switched placebo for an additional 8 weeks. During the study, all patients continued to receive antipsychotics. The study found that patients who received 200 mg of ginseng, are suffering from the negative effects of 50% fewer of those who took a placebo. Scientists believe that it is too early to advise people to take ginseng for schizophrenia. But ginseng can be a good addition to standard therapy. Researchers believe that alternative medicine in the science gets very little attention, and sometimes it's very promising.
