Scientists have found the gene for the occurrence of migraine

The first time scientists were able to accurately identify a gene responsible for the predisposition to migraine. The problem of migraine is one of the most common causes of headaches and treatment to a neurologist. About 15% of the total population, including 41 million people in Europe, who are both the developed and the developing countries are affected by this disease. Scientists were able to detect a large number of genes involved in various diseases. However, is the location of the gene responsible for migraine, it was not possible to detect, in part because of the variety of manifestations of the disease and the lack of laboratory tests. For this reason, researchers have focused on various forms of the disease. The international study involved 1,700 people who suffer from migraines, and their immediate families of the 210 Finnish and Australian families. Researchers have located a gene on chromosome 10q23, which is found with genetic predisposition for migraine. Particular strength of this relationship in women who suffer from this disease expressed. The experts pointed out that the site of the chromosome responsible for the development of migraine in 4000 patients and their next of kin. Discovery of the gene responsible for predisposition to migraine, extended the effective treatment of the disease, and to develop new techniques and therapies, experts say.
