Marijuana contributes to psychosis

The relationship between cannabis use and the first case of psychosis in young people found Spanish scientists reported. Scientists argue that the development of relations depends on the dose consumed marijuana. The study data suggest that the use of marijuana for about 10% of all cases of psychosis. This trend is not influenced by gender or concomitant medication. The researchers studied 131 patients aged 15 to 65 years. All of them required hospital treatment for the first psychotic episode for a 2-year period. Detailed analysis of the medical records showed that decreased with increasing age at onset of psychosis marijuana. Compared with those who did not use marijuana, the psychosis had first abused by an average of 7, 8.5 and 12 years and for patients that are used, and patients with a history of marijuana. Further analysis not confirm the version that the observed effect was associated with concomitant use of drugs that also found no relationship between age, sex when I first psychosis and patients.
