Baby lotions and powders can cause infertility

The use of baby lotion, shampoo and powder to a child's body to be potentially dangerous compounds. American researchers have found that the use of these products in the urine of children phthalates has fourfold increased following the journal Pediatrics. Phthalates are hormone-like effect by inhibiting the production of the male sex hormone testosterone. Previous studies have shown that these substances interfere with normal development of the reproductive system and reproductive disorders, boys and girls lead. Scientists at the University of Washington and the University of Rochester analyzed the content of phthalates in the urine of 163 U.S. children aged two to 28 months old. All urine samples were detected at least one type of phthalate, and more than 80% of the samples contained seven or more types of phthalates, the researchers reported. In the analysis of children whose parents use baby cosmetics with four times more phthalates, compared with those who did not use these products. The highest concentrations of these substances in the urine samples of children under the age of eight months, which was applied to the skin lotion, the researchers reported. Cosmetics manufacturers generally do not specify the content of phthalates on the label. Meanwhile, these studies show that the products of care for children often contain a variety of phthalates that enter the body through the skin of a child, said the head of research Sheela Sathyanarayana (Sheela Sathyanarayana). In their report, the scientists recommend parents limit their children to the use of lotions and powders, and use it only for medical reasons. Phthalates are not only in cosmetics, but is also often used as plasticizers in the manufacture of toys. Commenting on the study found children cosmetics manufacturer that the composition of their products only diethyl phthalate, and in very low concentrations. Need for further research on this subject, according to specialists.
